October Skill: Coaching Ethically, Actually

Welcome to the Competency Co-Lab, a monthly series for coaches to elevate their mastery of the ICF Core Competencies. Experience structured practice drills, interactive learning, and a supportive community. The Competency Co-Lab bridges theory and practical application, so you can seamlessly integrate your learnings into your coaching practice.

Each session unveils a drill specially designed around a Core Competency. Drill by drill, gain mastery over the full range of Competencies.

Bring your adventurous spirit, your sense of play and fun, and of course, a coaching topic!

Purpose:

This series will provide coaches with a platform to practice and to enhance their mastery of the ICF Core Competencies, one drill at a time.

Learning Objectives and Outcomes:

  • Enjoy a fun and challenging environment with interactive, stimulating, and creative drills and discussions.
  • Enhance mastery of ICF Core Competencies through structured practice drills and interactive learning.
  • Improve coaching skills by focusing on one or two core competencies at a time. 
  • Seamlessly integrate Core Competency theory into coaching sessions and interactions with clients.
  • Foster a supportive community for shared learning, group discussions, and diverse coaching perspectives.

Time and Format:  

12 – 1:00 PM [Formal Program]

  • Intros & Review of relevant Competencies
  • Drill overview & guidance
  • Breakout groups for interactive drills
  • Debrief & learnings review
  • Celebration!

1 – 1:15 PM [Co-Lab Cafe Optional Additional Community Building Portion]

A further 15-min co-learning discussion for those able to stay a little longer designed to deepen and expand the learning for those interested.

CCEUs: 

1 CCEU (type to be confirmed)

Format and Notes on Participating:

Attendees are placed into triads or pairs right at the top of the hour after a brief introduction to the day’s exercise. Please join punctually to ensure a seamless experience for you and your colleagues and to minimize disruption. Registrants will not be allowed into the Zoom room past 12:10 as attendees will be split into coaching triads (or dyads).

All attendees are expected to participate fully in both a coach and coaching role during the session.

In accordance with ICF’s code of ethics, all coaching conversations between breakout partners have the expectation of confidentiality.

Event Policies: 

Note that in accordance with our Event Policies and Procedures, event tickets are not refundable. Refer to our Event Policies and Procedures for additional information.

ICF NYC Recording Policy:

Event will NOT be recorded. This event is highly interactive and will NOT be recorded. As an attendee, you are expected to participate fully and support your colleagues in breakout rooms actively practicing the skills and providing feedback in support of growth. Please register only if you plan to attend and actively participate. Tickets are not refundable in accordance with our event policies.

Any form of recording NOT initiated by the host (including but not limited to video, audio, or chat recording, including transcription) is not permissible.  The meeting host reserves the right to remove any participant (person or technology) that fails to comply with the policy.  Accordingly, it is the responsibility of every participant to know what technologies (including zoom and browser plugins) that they have installed on their device and if they have the potential to violate this policy.

CCEU Issuance:

CCEUs will be sent within 7 – 10 business days to all attendees who participate in most of the event.
