The Event

This year’s holiday gathering moves virtual, and we hope you join us for an evening to celebrate, to laugh, to be silly, to connect and to infuse a bit of competitive spirit. 

Evening Program (Times listed are estimates): 

• 7:00 - 7:10  Small group opening exercise

• 7:10 - 7:30  Mixology lesson (cocktail and mocktail) with guest bartender Nicolas Richards

• 7:30 - 7:40  Musical interlude featuring ICF NYC members Adam Mirabella and Kim Foster

• 7:40 - 7:55  Voice of Coaches project preview and membership appreciation

• 7:55 - 8:20  Trivia competition

• 8:20 - 8:30  Prizes [Amazon gift cards] and Wrap-up 

Event Preparation

1. Games and Prize Categories:

For those with some competitive spirit, the following are the evening’s prize categories:

• Most ostentatiously festive Zoom background

• Most outrageous holiday shirt/sweater [any holiday of your choice]

• Trivia winners 

Preparation hints: Sparkles are always favored, as are a sense of humor, clever word play and creativity in general. Also, we are the ICF NYC chapter. 

1. Mixology Class Pre-Event Preparation Information and  Shopping List:

For those wishing to follow along with the evening’s beverage creation, either the cocktail or the mocktail (or both), further details on the evening’s mixology class are as follows: 

About our Mixologist: Nicolas Richards is a veteran drink-slinger and author living in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. He has captained bar programs at such highly regarded establishments as The Standard Hotel in New York City and Prescription Cocktail Club Paris, France. He is currently working on his first book "Bartender in Exile,"  a guide to drinking well at home. 

1. Option 1: Cocktail (New York Sour or Traditional Whiskey Sour):

Grocery/Liquor Ingredients:

• 4 Lemons (for juicing)

• Granulated white sugar

• 1 egg (optional)

• ice

• Whiskey (Nic’s recommendation is Rittenhouse bottled in bond rye, but any bourbon, rye, or Irish will be fine)

• One bottle dry red wine (nothing fancy -- only a small amount will be used, so pick something you want to finish later)

Tools:

• Cocktail shaker

• Strainer

• Juicer

• Jigger or 1oz shot glass

• Small rocks/water glass

Pre-Party Prep:

• Simple syrup: 

• • One-part sugar (one cup is fine for our needs)

  • One-part water (one cup / same volume as sugar)

• Combine in a small saucepan, heat and stir until mixture is fully combined. Allow to cool before using. Can be refrigerated for up to 3 weeks.

1. Option 2: Mocktail 

Grocery Ingredients:

• 4 Lemons (for juicing)

• Granulated white sugar

• Cucumber

• Mint

• Ginger beer

• Ice
